Berlin Day 8

What a wonderful blur of Europe! Leaving Amsterdam to Berlin today!

As we met on the steps of the Hans Brinker hostel, three of us walked to the tram, the other three took a taxi to the Amsterdam Central train station. Unfortunately, the tram was not in service! So we took a taxi. We were running out of time! Luckily, as we were dropped off and standing and reading the Dutch signs, the other taxi was dropped off, so we all walked together to find the right train platform. I had to stop and get some juice, and when I turned around four of the travelers had disappeared. I just kept my fingers crossed that they went up the stairs to the right platform. As I looked for Wagon 7, I realized that they may have gotten on the wrong wagon. We had reserved seats, but I was confident that somehow they would figure this out. AND THEY DID! We all found our seats and immediately went to sleep. There was a very obnoxious teen boy and his girlfriend sitting behind us being very loud and banging the seats, but we made it the long 5 hours to Berlin!!!

Some took a taxi to the hostel, the three of us took the subway and walked a few blocks to the hostel. The rooms were easy to get and we rested before we walked to Dolores Burrito, the famous California burritos!

Afterwards, we walked through the BUSY Hackescher Market and found gelato. Some stayed for an evening by the river, and two of us walked back to the hotel.

Another success travel day!

BTW: our hostel is quaint, busy with solo travelers, and has a large garden in the back to relax in. It is very hot in Berlin, about 85, and our rooms do not have air conditioning. But they hostel is quaint and has

a family room and busy kitchen. It was very lively, very safe, and very relaxing! (Except two travelers had rooms on the fourth floor and there wasn't an elevator!
